Saint Aggie's '84

The history of a new musical as it comes to be…

Welcome to West Berlin.

So I’m writing away and I think I’m in control of everything. I mean, I should be, I am writing it. And then, all of a sudden, one of these fictitious people says something that I didn’t come up with. It’s really quite baffling. And Fergie is starting to become a lot smarter than than I ever was. It’s a bit disturbing. She just described her out of school life, living with her parents in “Cold War” era West Berlin.

“Our house is right in the epicenter of the crazy British sector, in Mitte, but it is just off the Tiergarten. It’s a beautiful big park. It’s amazing. Like another world from the rest of the city. But it’s still pretty near the Americans…the Friedrichstrass, Check Point Charlie, all that. Actually, now that I think about it, the park is probably totally full of spies.”

When I started this, I was basing Fergie on myself…but I’m starting not to know her anymore.
